Originally from Washington, Michael McNamara earned his Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from the University of Washington. His professional career began at GENEWIZ, a life sciences service company, where he started at the lab bench as a lab technician before advancing to Regional Operations Manager in the Genetic Analysis department. In this role, he oversaw five laboratory locations on both coasts, leading cross-functional managerial and technical teams in large-scale operational efficiency and cost reduction projects, with a focus on Lean & Six Sigma principles. Most recently, Michael spearheaded the national launch of the Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) GridION platform, expanding access to advanced 3rd-generation sequencing capabilities across the United States.
Michael is passionate about collaborative problem-solving, ensuring that diverse perspectives contribute to meaningful progress. Before joining Phenome Health as a Project Manager, he earned his PMP certification, reinforcing his dedication to systems thinking and project management. Outside of work, Michael enjoys cooking for and spending time with his wife and two cats, refining his weightlifting and HIIT fitness routines, and exploring the imaginative worlds of indie games.
