President and CEO of Health Innovation for People, Inc. (HIP), Chair of the Health and Medicine Member-Led Forum at the Commonwealth Club of California, Advisor to the Master of Science Program in Bioethics at Columbia University, Advisor to the Biotrack at Berkeley Skydeck (incubator and accelerator), and a Founding Partner at Technology Vision Group, LLC. (TVG) which has focused on creating value-driven strategic partnerships between life sciences companies and stakeholders since 1992.
At the Commonwealth Club of California, he has created two program series - The Art of Science of Wellness, and the Healthy Society series. The purpose is to feature thought leaders from across the spectrum of health and wellness. At Berkeley Skydeck he advises start-up technology companies active in the healthcare space. As a member of the Advisory Board to the Bioethics program at Columbia University, he contributes to understanding ethical issues in technology and healthcare.
TVG created the BioPartnering platform which included partnering events and an online IP brokering service (biopartnering.com) for stakeholders in the emerging life sciences field on a global scale. For twenty years he worked closely with about 400 companies to implement growth and development strategies. Clients were based in over 30 countries and represented small, medium, and large biopharmaceutical companies, venture capital groups, universities, tech transfer offices, research institutes, media organizations, and government investment agencies, among others. BioPartnering events became the Gold Standard by which others were measured.
He is currently writing a book titled, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. The Healthcare System America Needs Now, which explores why the United States is not globally competitive in healthcare provision, and how to solve this problem. He was educated at UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC San Francisco, and the University of Cambridge where he received a Ph.D. in the History of Medicine.
